The Scientific Department of the National Gallery provides a 22-month fellowship funded by the Aldama Foundation.
The fellowship of 22 months offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career researcher to work on the technical examination of paintings from the National Gallery and other collections. The role involves investigating conservation treatments, historical technical research, and using scientific techniques like MA-XRF scanning. Collaborating with scientists, conservators, and curators, the researcher will report results to various audiences.
The National Gallery is the national museum situated in London (Trafalgar Square) and shows the national collection of paintings in the Western European tradition from the 13th to the 19th centuries, from the artists of late medieval and Renaissance Italy to the French Impressionists.
