30 September 2026 – E-RIHS announces the results of the 2nd Call for Access selection.
E-RIHS launched the 2nd Call for Access – Spring 2026 early this year and closed before the summer. It attracted many high-quality applications from across the heritage science community, reflecting both the richness of research needs and the growing demand for integrated access to expertise and advanced technologies.
Following a competitive, peer-reviewed evaluation process, 34 projects out of 76 submitted were selected, based on their scientific excellence and expected impact. The list of institutions’ countries with at least one selected project includes Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, and USA. Applicants have been directly notified about the outcomes of their proposals.
In the coming months, successful applicants will gain access to E-RIHS’s unique services and expertise across its four integrated platforms – ARCHLAB, DIGILAB, FIXLAB and MOLAB – supporting cutting-edge research in the study and preservation of heritage.
Meanwhile, successful applicants of the previous call, the 1st Call for Access 2025, have already started accessing E-RIHS services for their research studies. All 1st Call accesses are to be completed by end January 2027.
Furthermore, the next opportunity is already here: the 3rd Call for Access – Autumn 2026 opened this summer and will close on 15th October at noon. Researchers and professionals at all career stages in heritage science are welcome to submit their application. This also includes all eligible projects that did not pass the 2nd Call selection: project leaders can resubmit their proposals for the 3rd Call after improvements and refinements suggested by expert reviewers.
With three Calls for Access following their defined timeline, and the next one on its way, E-RIHS is at full-regime, providing coordinated access to archives, instruments, digital tools, data and expertise, supporting research and new knowledge in cultural heritage across Europe.
