The GreenHer Centre of Excellence (GreenHer CoE) is excited to announce two long-term admin posts and five long-term postdoc posts. GreenHer CoE is the first Slovenian research centre dedicated to interdisciplinary green heritage science within a collaborative European partnership and is an autonomous unit of the University of Ljubljana. The posts are open to international applicants. Senior Research Administration Adviser 

Location of work: GreenHer Central Office, University of Ljubljana 

Type of position: This is a 100% appointment.  

Work description: The successful candidate will provide administrative and professional support to researchers throughout the research project lifecycle, from proposal development and submission to project implementation, financial monitoring, reporting, and project closure.

Administrative Coordinator

Postdoc Position: Digital Technologies for Heritage Research, Documentation, Reconstruction and Engagement  

Location of work: GreenHer Unit ZVKDS, Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Ljubljana 

Type of position: This is a shared appointment, 50% at University of Ljubljana and 50% at the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia (job advert to follow).  

Research Domain: The researcher will focus on the development of digital technologies for cultural heritage research and dissemination, including: 

  • 3D modelling and digital reconstruction of historical objects, buildings, and sites; 
  • Virtual, augmented, and extended reality (VR/XR) applications; 
  • Interactive visualizations and immersive digital environments; 
  • Advanced digital workflows for documentation, interpretation, and presentation of cultural heritage.

Postdoc Position in Participatory Research, Heritage Values and Heritage Policy (Research Core III)  

Location of work: GreenHer Unit UP, Faculty of Humanities, University of Primorska, Koper 

Type of position: This is a shared appointment, 50% at University of Ljubljana and 50% at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Primorska (job advert to follow).  

Research Domain: The researcher will focus on Pilot Project 6 (Research Core III) focussing on heritage values, particiatory research and policies, and will involve: 

  • Development of an understanding of different heritage values attributed to cultural heritage by local communities, public institutions, experts, economic operators, visitors and other stakeholders, and integrating them into sustainable management models. 
  • Development of the content, concepts and methodologies relevant to the pilot project and the establishment and operation of the Laboratory for Knowledge Co-Creation, which will represent the central platform for the cooperation of researchers, decision-makers and other stakeholders. 
  • Planning and implementation of interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and participatory research. This includes the use of qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as interviews, focus groups, surveys, participatory workshops, co-creation processes and other forms of field research. 
  • Analysis of national, local and European strategic documents, legislation, policies and management models in the fields of cultural heritage, spatial development, tourism, environment and climate change. 
  • Development of operational tools, methodological guidelines and recommendations for sustainable heritage management and in verifying their applicability in pilot cases.  
  • Presentation of the research results in the form of scientific articles, expert papers, project reports, methodological manuals and recommendations for decision-makers, and present them at national and international scientific conferences, expert meetings, workshops and round tables. 
  • Development of project proposals and perform organizational, coordination and professional work necessary for the work within the GreenHer CoE, and will take care of the integration between the CoE Units and the Central Office, and contribute to work reports. 
  • Other work and tasks in the wider area of the Center’s activities, under the instructions of the GreenHer CoE Director.

Postdoc Position in Building Science, Construction Product Research and Built Environment (Research Core I)  

Location of work: GreenHer Unit ZAG, Slovenian National Building And Civil Engineering Institute, Ljubljana 

Type of position: This is a shared appointment, 50% at University of Ljubljana and 50% at the Slovenian National Building And Civil Engineering Institute (job advert to follow).  

Research Domain: The researcher will develop and use advanced methods for microclimate modeling, hygrothermal analysis and building envelope analysis in order to evaluate the impacts of environmental factors on the built environment and cultural heritage, including: 

  • Implementation of computer-aided simulations, 
  • Development of software tools, programming, and the management and analysis of data using databases, 
  • Participation in the research and optimization of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, 
  • Development of methods to improve the energy, environmental and operational efficiency of buildings. 

Special emphasis will be placed on sustainable approaches, evaluation of impacts on the internal environment, compliance with applicable standards and understanding of the links between the microclimate, building materials, users and the environment.

Postdoc Position in Sustainable Buildings, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Assessment of the Built Environment (Research Core I)  

Location of work: GreenHer Unit NUK, National and University Library, Ljubljana

Research Domain: The researcher will focus on the development and application of advanced methods for sustainable building design, environmental assessment and building performance, including:  

  • Energy-efficient buildings and building performance assessment.  
  • Heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. 
  • Sustainable construction and life cycle assessment (LCA). 
  • Building microclimate and hygrothermal modelling. 
  • Indoor environmental quality and interactions between building envelopes and technical building systems. 
  • Environmental performance of construction products and sustainable heritage management.

Postdoc Position in Computer Science, Information Science and Digital Heritage (Research Core IV) 

Location of work: GreenHer Unit UM, University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Maribor 

Type of position: This is a shared appointment, 50% at University of Ljubljana and 50% at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (job advert to follow).  

Research Domain: The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research in artificial intelligence for digital cultural heritage, focusing on the development of advanced geospatial AI methods for the analysis, interpretation and management of cultural heritage data, including: 

  • Development of novel geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI) models for cultural heritage, 
  • Research on spatio-temporal graph neural networks supported by physics-informed learning and other state-of-the-art AI approaches. 
  • Development of tools for the acquisition, processing and analysis of cultural heritage data. 
  • Demonstration of AI models in cultural heritage-related applications, including socio-economic analyses and decision support.
