CTinHS Lecture #06 | March 28, 2024

On March 28, 2024, will be held the 6th Lecture of the Current Topics in Heritage Science series.

At 3 pm, on the Zoom platform, we met Dr Pascale Fraituere and Vincent Labbas to talk about Dendrochronology: Tree Rings, Art, Archaeology.

In the 6th lecture, you will learn more about dendrochronology, the science that studies the annual growth rings of trees. This discipline is currently widely used to date ancient wood and is also essential for environmental and climatological research.

With the help of the two scientists, we will examine the link between cultural heritage and dendrochronology. They will guide us through how it could be used practically for cultural heritage, with a focus on dating, accuracy and reliability. Dendrochronology also presents a challenge in dendroarchaeological research to understand the social ecosystems of the past.

The lecture is broken down into 30-minute presentation & 15-minute Q&A, to allow you to interact with the speaker.
