Today, May 28th, 2026, the EOSC General Assembly approved E-RIHS ERIC as a new Member of the EOSC Association.
The ambition of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is to develop a “Web of FAIR Data and Services” for science in Europe: the Cloud where researchers can publish, find and re-use data, tools, and services, to better conduct their work. The role of the EOSC Association is to implement EOSC and the EOSC Federation to advance Open Science practices for creating new knowledge, promote innovation and reinforce public trust in science.
E-RIHS is aligned with the goals of the Cloud, recognising and embracing the importance of developing common practices, protocols and an interoperability ecosystem of data, tools, and services dedicated to research in heritage science. For these reasons, E-RIHS ERIC decided to formally apply to become a Member of the EOSC Association.
Attending the meeting in Brussels of the EOSC General Assembly, the supreme authority of the Association, to present the E-RIHS mission and work, there was Anaïs Guillem, DIGILAB officer and data steward of the E-RIHS Central Hub. DIGILAB is the E-RIHS digital tools and data platform for creating new heritage science knowledge. These tools support sharing, curating, processing, visualising, and ensuring interoperability of heritage science data, fostering data-driven research to offer a cumulative, FAIR-aligned knowledge base to support the creation of heritage digital twins.
Today, the EOSC General Assembly voted in favour of E-RIHS ERIC admission, which is now officially an EOSC Member with voting rights through the Director General Vania Virgili and her delegate Anaïs Guillem.
E-RIHS always expressed its support for the establishment of EOSC. From now on, its contribution will be even more active and participatory, reinforcing EOSC use and implementation by adopting it and promoting it among the heritage science researchers.
