The Research Group of Chemistry in Cultural Heritage has opened a position for 2 years post-doc at the University of Perugia.
Research grant title: Study of the transformation mechanisms of materials used in the figurative arts
Functions and research tasks: Synthesis and characterization of inorganic pigments, preparation of pictorial reproductions, accelerated aging of materials in controlled conditions, the study of the chemical-physical transformations induced with aging through molecular spectroscopic techniques (IR, Raman, UV-VIS-NIR point and mapping/imaging,) and analytical techniques based on X-rays from traditional sources and synchrotron radiation (XRD, XRF, XANES etc.). The fellow will use the knowledge acquired by participating in diagnostic campaigns in the activities of the IPERION-HS project.
Skills required: at least a thorough knowledge of the IR, Raman and UV-VIS-NIR spectroscopy techniques and of their use in the study of solid samples, with the ability to interpret the obtained spectral information. Any experience in analytical X-ray-based methods produced by traditional sources and/or synchrotron radiation will be a plus.
Title required: PhD or master’s degree+ at least 3 years of experience in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Physics, Heritage Science
