Meet the E-RIHS IP Research Infrastructure Advisory Board | RIAB

The RIAB is intended to supplement the expertise of the E-RIHS IP consortium by bringing together experts on research infrastructures.

The objectives of the RIAB are to:

• provide advice and guidance on best practices and lessons learned in the establishment and management of research infrastructures as ERICs;
• provide feedback on the progress of the E-RIHS IP project;
• offer recommendations for the successful implementation and forthcoming operation phases of the E-RIHS research infrastructure;
• advise on any issues or challenges that arise during the project and propose solutions or alternative approaches.

The E-RIHS IP RIAB members are Jennifer Edmond and Ornela De Giacomo.

Jennifer Edmond

Jennifer Edmond is Associate Professor of Digital Humanities at Trinity College Dublin where she is co-director of the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, Director of the MPhil in Digital Humanities and Culture and a funded Investigator of the SFI ADAPT Centre. Over the course of the past 10 years, Jennifer has coordinated a large number of significant funded research projects, including her most recent project on AI, big data and democracy, KT4D. She has served in leadership roles in a number of European-level policy and infrastructure organisations, including six years as a Director and President of DARIAH-EU, four on the European Commission’s Open Science Policy Platform, and her current role as a member of the Governing Board of the European Association of Social Sciences and Humanities (EASSH). Her research explores interdisciplinarity, humanistic and hybrid research processes, and the emergence of critical digital humanities as a contributor to both research and technology development.

Ornela De Giacomo

Ornela De Giacomo is Deputy Executive Director of CERIC-ERIC since 2015. She has 20 years of experience in large analytical Research Infrastructures, first as a user and later in operations and management. She made a wonderful professional experience of a year working jointly for CERIC ERIC and EPOS ERIC, as a member of EPOS’ Executive Coordination Office, in the Management Unit. In 2015, she contributed to the initiative Foresight Science and Technology of the Italian National Research Council as part of the working group "Converging technologies for sustainable and healthy food". She also worked in technology transfer for a private company. Her background is in Food Engineering (2000), and she completed her Ph.D. in Nanotechnology in 2008. She was trained in Strategic Management of Research Infrastructures and Project management for engineers in Virginia, US, in 2018 and Team Leadership at the Bocconi university, Milan in 2023. She has been a member of advisory boards such as the EPOS SP Advisory board (2018-2020), the Conseil Scientifique d'E-RIHS France (2019-2021) and the EOSC-A Task Force “Financial Sustainability of EOSC” (2022-2024).
