The Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency recently approved a new »large« project called AID HCH – Advancing Humanities and Cultural Heritage with Artificial Intelligence, to launch on 1st January 2025. This three-year initiative attracted €1.5M funding in total and addresses critical challenges in integrating AI into heritage science.
AID HCH aims to establish Slovenia’s first comprehensive data space for humanities and heritage (SHHDS), enhancing its collaboration in infrastructures like E-RIHS, CLARIN, and DARIAH. The key focus areas include historical research, heritage storytelling, and predictive conservation.

- University of Ljubljana (Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology)
- University of Primorska (Faculty of Humanities)

- University Library Maribor
- Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute
- Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia
Together, the institutions aim to advance the application of AI in cultural heritage and heritage science and foster innovative research practices.
