Hybrid conference “Heritage Meets Science – Infrastructures and Research Perspectives in Austria” | Vienna, 6-7 November 2025

Cultural Heritage is the multifaceted legacy we inherit from the past, live with in the present, and pass on to future generations. It embodies what makes us human while at the same time anchoring us within specific national, ethnic, religious, social, gender, or linguistic groups. In this spirit, the Austrian Archaeological Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, as the future host of the national node of the Consortium E-RIHS (European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science), is pleased to organise the hybrid conference “Heritage Meets Science – Infrastructures and Research Perspectives in Austria”.

The two-day conference will include an introduction to E-RIHS ERIC , with the participation of Vania Virgili Director General of the ERIC and Polonca Ropret, Chair of the ERIC Committee of National Nodes, and an overview of heritage research activities in Austria, as well as presentations of the final results from the Heritage Science Austria funding program projects, highlighting current collaborations and future perspectives in the field.

Researchers, professionals, and enthusiasts in the field of heritage and archaeological sciences and related disciplines are warmly welcome to join the conference for this exciting opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas!

Registration is mandatory for both in-person and virtual attendance.
