E-RIHS and Brazilian ANTECIPA signed a Memorandum of Understanding for enhancing cooperation in heritage science

On 11 October 2024, the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS) and the Brazilian Associação Nacional de Pesquisa em Tecnologia e Ciência do Patrimônio (ANTECIPA) have taken an important step in enhancing mutual cooperation for the advancement of heritage science. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Vania Virgili (interim Director General, E-RIHS) and Márcia De Mathias Rizzo (President, ANTECIPA) towards enabling joint initiatives, within the framework of ANTECIPA’s effective establishment of the Brazilian Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science, and its interest in joining E-RIHS ERIC as a prospective strategic partner.

The MoU has been signed ahead of the International Day on Disaster Risk Reduction (celebrated every year on 13 October) in order to mark the importance of international cooperation on cultural heritage also within the framework of the impact of climate change. In this context, E-RIHS and ANTECIPA are issuing a “Call to Action” to help the heritage community in Brazil address damages to cultural heritage in areas affected by floods, especially in Rio Grande do Sul, in April-May 2024.
