E-RIHS 1st Call for Access: All Around Results

23 March 2026 – The E-RIHS 1st Call for Access selection is now complete.

Launched in Summer 2025, just two months after E-RIHS became an ERIC (European Research Infrastructure Consortium), the E-RIHS 1st Call for Access marked the first opportunity to access the catalogue of services as a fully operational European research infrastructure. It attracted a high number of high-quality applications from across the heritage science community, reflecting both the richness of research needs and the growing demand for integrated access to expertise and advanced technologies.

Following a competitive, peer-reviewed evaluation process, 29 projects out of 75 submitted were selected, based on their scientific excellence and expected impact. The list of institutions’ countries with at least one selected project includes Belgium, China, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Iran, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

In the coming months, successful applicants will gain access to E-RIHS’s unique services and expertise across its four integrated platforms – ARCHLAB, DIGILAB, FIXLAB and MOLAB – supporting cutting-edge research in the study and preservation of heritage.

At the same time, the call has also provided valuable feedback to the broader community. All eligible projects that did not pass the selection received detailed comments from expert reviewers, supporting further development and refinement.

The next opportunity is already open: the 2nd Call for Access welcomes both new projects and improved versions of unsuccessful applications. The deadline for submission is 15 April.

With two calls per year, in spring and autumn, E-RIHS continues to provide coordinated access to archives, instruments, digital tools, data and expertise, supporting research and new knowledge in cultural heritage across Europe.
