On Friday 27 June 2025, the Dutch node of E-RIHS (E-RIHS NL) is organising the first edition of Archeosciencefest at Castellum Hoge Woerd in Utrecht, the Netherlands. The event has attracted over 450 registered participants, confirming strong interest from across the Dutch archaeological and heritage science sectors.
The programme includes workshops, demonstrations, and lectures designed to facilitate exchange between researchers, archaeologists, heritage professionals and others active in the field. The event aims to support dialogue around research questions, scientific methods, and interdisciplinary approaches to cultural heritage.
E-RIHS ERIC Director-General Vania Virgili will attend the event as a guest, highlighting the connection between national and European efforts in heritage science. The event also provides an opportunity to strengthen the visibility and collaboration within the E-RIHS community in the Netherlands.
The venue, Castellum Hoge Woerd, is a reconstructed Roman fort and museum located along the Lower Germanic Limes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The setting offers an appropriate context for discussing the intersection of science, archaeology and public heritage engagement.
