An international workshop about the future perspectives of Heritage Science

The international workshop “Towards a European research Infrastructure for Heritage Science“, that will take place in Florence March, 29.  The location is the Chiostro del Maglio that could host E-RIHS headquarters in a short future. Aim of the workshop is to present the E-RIHS and its future perspectives.

At the present time, E-RIHS is the only pan-European research infrastructure for Heritage Science. This field is a cross-cutting domain that embraces a wide range of research disciplines supporting the various aspects of tangible heritage conservation, interpretation and management.  Led by CNR, the research infrastructure connects researchers in the natural sciences and humanities and fosters a trans-disciplinary culture of exchange and cooperation. Moreover, E-RIHS offers access to a wide range of cutting-edge facilities, scientific instruments, methodologies, data and tools. The mission of E-RIHS is to advance knowledge and innovation in the study and preservation of heritage.

E-RIHS is currently in its preparatory phase (PP). In this time, it is assembling a worldwide network of affiliated partners.  The intergovernmental organization ICCROM is supporting the infrastructure in creating a global research infrastructure. E-RIHS has currently 18 founding members, 6 observers and more than 80 institutions involved worldwide.
